I used to be obsessed with old video game ROM hacks and prototypes, especially the Sonic the Hedgehog series. There was something charming, and sometimes unnerving, about seeing familiar zones twisted in odd ways. I'd scroll through obscure forums and FTP sites, always looking for something new.

One day, on a long-dead message board called "BlastEmBeta," I found a thread simply titled:

"Do Not Run hedgehog.avi"

The original post had no text. Just a single MEGA link to a .zip file called sonic1_lostbuild.7z. Against my better judgment, I downloaded it.

Inside the archive was just one file: hedgehog.avi.

No ROM. No README. Just that. An AVI video file, 22.6 MB.
